Trusts & Settlements

Many people are wary of trusts but they actually have many benefits for tax and non-tax reasons.  A trust can be used to provide for people not able to look after their own affairs such as grandchildren, vulnerable or disabled people or to provide for elderly relatives.

Sometimes trusts are used to protect family wealth from spendthrift children, to keep assets in the family in the event of divorce or to protect assets being used to pay nursing home fees.

Trusts have also been used in tax planning.  You may have read that the government has tried to put a stop to this but we can advise on the tax planning opportunities still available.
